Juma Amazon Lodge

Juma Amazon Lodge

Nestled 100 km southeast of Manaus, Juma Amazon Lodge stands as a beacon of sustainability. Enveloped by the untouched wilderness, this haven rests on a peninsula embraced by the Juma River. Spanning over 17,000 acres, it is a sanctuary dedicated to preservation and harmony with nature. Getting here is half the adventure! The lodge boasts 20 intimate bungalows, elevated on stilts to adapt to fluctuating water levels.

With its prime location in one of the most remote and preserved regions of the Amazon Rainforest. All materials used in the construction of Juma are native and found abundantly in the region, carefully extracted from the lodge’s area. Both the construction and the architectural style of the lodge reflect the techniques employed by Amazon River natives when building their own homes.

This is as remote as it gets – no phones, no TV’s, and don’t expect great Wifi. This is the time to switch off and allow the senses to take where you actually are – in the heart of the Amazon jungle!

Juma’s lobby is home to the lodge’s bar, where guests can entertain themselves with board and table games, books pertaining to the Amazon, painting materials and a professional telescope designed for moon and star observation.

The restaurant, specializing in both local and international cuisine, offers its guests an exceptional view of the Juma River. The menu is constantly changing and offers a great variety of flavors. Breakfast and lunch are served as a buffet, dinner is a la carte.

The swimming pool was specially designed under a floating deck protected by submerged railings and uses water from the river itself, making the experience of swimming in the river as safe and authentic as possible. Around it, it is possible to sunbathe and enjoy a cozy bar.

Juma features two decks: a floating one, ideal for swimming in the river and sunbathing, and another one built on stilts located directly in front of the lobby and showcasing excellent views of the river.

It is also possible to observe the forest from above, from the 31 metre observation tower. A unique experience to observe the beautiful Amazonian landscapes with panoramic views. The place is perfect for immersion in birdwatching.

All bungalows have private bathrooms with solar powered hot water systems, porches with hammocks and ceiling fans ideal for the Amazonian night, which tends to be far cooler than Manaus. A select few bungalows come with air conditioning at a surcharge. Simple construction, with minimum disruption to the environment is key here.
