This lodge showcases the best Cradle Mountain has to offer with warm hospitality, sensational local food, and wine, indulgent spa treatments, breathtaking scenery, and magnificent wilderness surrounds.
The Lodge Rangers will lead you on a private guided walk to Dove Lake – which is circled by a six-kilometre track that offers one of Tasmania’s best walks. Along the way, you will learn about the Aboriginal history of Tasmania and bush tucker plants, the European settlement of the island, and the geological features around the lake.
From Cradle Valley you’ll journey to the quaint fishing village of Strahan – stopping along the way at Hogarth Falls where an easy stroll will lead you to a picturesque waterfall. The cool temperate rainforest here is filled with leatherwood, sassafras, and myrtle. One further stop – this time at family-owned and operated Morrison’s Huon Pine Sawmill is planned.
After some time to settle into your accommodation in Strahan, it will be onto the Risby Cove Gallery for a private after-hours tour led by their curator. This local gem boasts an eclectic collection of works including paintings, photography, jewellery, ceramics, glass, and textiles and features some of Tasmania’s leading artists.
A relaxing afternoon cruise along the Gordan River is also part of our itinerary while in the region. Take in the beauty and ruggedness of this UNESCO World Heritage area as you first cross Macquarie Harbour to Hells Gates and then journey along the Gordon River. Along the way, explore Heritage Landing and Sarah Island, wander amongst the largest remaining tract of temperate rainforest on the planet and stare up at trees that are thousands of years old.
Hobart is the final destination for our itinerary and our home for the last four nights is the award-winning Hotel Grand Chancellor. Every Amaco guest is guaranteed to love the amazing and every changing harbour view rooms we’ve secured. From here, you’ll explore the region and visit some of the key attractions.
As with much of this itinerary – we’ve worked to elevate that standard tourist experience to something more befitting the Amaco way. Take for example the private tour we’ve organised of Shene Estate in Pontville where the owner and Head Distiller (and his dog) will lead you on a fascinating tour covering not just the stunning historical property but also the secrets to his award-winning distillery.
Since it opened in 2011, MONA – the Museum of Old and New Art remains the largest privately funded museum in the Southern Hemisphere and is home to ancient, modern, and contemporary art from the collection of owner David Walsh. With so much to see, we’ve arranged a private introduction for the group and then allowed you free time to explore the things that interest you most.
From MONA, you’ll head to Moorilla – Tasmania’s oldest vineyard for a private tour of the vines and barrel room.
Rounding out the Tantalising Tasmania itinerary is a full-day excursion to the Tasman Peninsula where you’ll have the opportunity to explore Devils Kitchen and Devils Arch beginning first with an unforgettable Tasman Island Wilderness Cruise along the spectacular coastline between Port Arthur and Eaglehawk Neck.
It’s then onto the Port Arthur Historic Site where a specialist local guide will recount powerful stories of convicts, soldiers, free settlers and their families.
Uncompromising cleaning and hygiene practices are already a feature of every Amaco tour and this hasn’t changed in the Covid-normal world. If anything, we’re more fastidious now and ensure that additional cleaning, sanitising, and hygiene practices have been implemented in all areas with particular emphasis on high touch points and hard surfaces.
All coaches, vessels, planes, vehicles, and accommodation we will be using are fully equipped with all that you will need. Hand sanitising stations will be available in all public areas and personal hygiene kits will also be provided where appropriate.

Other operators might discourage you from doing this.
Sometimes, it’s because of the added complexity it creates and at other times they’ll try to talk you out of it simply because they don’t have capable or experienced consultants with the breadth and depth of the knowledge that consultants we employ have.
We encourage all participants to make the most of the time away. This might mean departing earlier than the rest of the group and visiting other places before meeting up with the main group at the start of the tour or staying on at the conclusion and doing some additional travel.

Amaco is an Accredited Education Provider for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and the Australian College of Rural & Remote Medicine.
Each conference we run includes an education syllabus that assists GP’s, pharmacists and health professionals to improve the quality of care they provide to patients and customers while at the same time providing them the opportunity to travel to and experience new and exciting destinations.
Our conference will allow delegates the opportunity to earn CPD points based on the content and time in session. As has been the case with past conferences, we will work closely with participants affiliated with other associations to ensure that they receive maximum recognition for attending the conference.
The content of the education sessions will be relevant to GPs, Medical Specialists, Pharmacists, Dentists, Nurses and other health providers. We encourage all attendees to register for the conference sessions.
The Education Committee for the Tantilising Tasmania Conference will be selected in the fourth quarter of 2020 with final conference topics to be chosen based on the feedback from our previous conference attendees and with input from the RACGP, ACRRM, and Medical Journals. Suitable speakers will be approached based on the topics selected.
Subject to final accreditation, the Tantalising Tasmania Conference will include an Accredited Education Activity (formerly Category 1 Activity) affording delegates the opportunity to earn up to 40 points.
ACRRM members can also expect the education program to be accredited and to earn CPD points. RACGP and ACRRM accreditation will be applied for under the triennium 2020 to 2022.
As has been the case in the past, Amaco will work with pharmacy bodies and those affiliated with other associations to ensure that they receive maximum recognition for attending the conference.
