Located between Weipa and Bamaga on the Overland Telegraph Track, Moreton Wilderness Lodge is situated adjacent to the historic Moreton Telegraph Station, a repeater station for the Overland Telegraph Line (OTL) established in the 1880s.
It is one of the only accommodation options between Weipa and Bamaga.
Set within a shady eucalypt forest, the lodge enjoys an enviable location alongside the wild and pristine Wenlock River, which is home to more species of freshwater fish than any other river in Australia.
The lodge features 12 ensuite motel-style rooms complete with air-conditioning and quality furniture and bedding. The in-house chef prepares delectable cuisine, and the evenings around the campfire make for a memorable stay.
The campfire crackles each evening, whilst the mornings are dominated by beautiful birdsong. It’s a great place to bed down for a few nights and absorb the wilderness of the Cape.
