Few countries on earth offer the sheer geographical diversity of Chile. A ribbon of land stretching between the spine of the Andes and the Pacific Ocean, it is a place of dramatic contrasts—from the sophisticated, European-style boulevards of Santiago to the haunting silence of the Moai statues on the world’s most isolated inhabited island.
Our Small Group Tour and Conference to Chile in sees us travelling the expanse of this extraordinary country covering landscapes from desert to ice.
November casts Chile in a brilliant light, a season when the Andean peaks remain capped in white while the valleys below burst into life. This carefully planned small-group journey invites you to experience the country in its most striking season, from the high-altitude moonscapes of the Atacama Desert to the haunting silence of the Moai statues on Easter Island, the bohemian charm of Valparaíso, and the rugged granite cathedrals of Patagonia.
Wander through the sophisticated boulevards of Santiago, where colonial history meets modern ambition. Sip world-class Cabernet Sauvignon in tucked-away vineyards of the Maipo Valley, and trace the history of the “thin country” from its Spanish roots to its contemporary status as a South American powerhouse.
In Valparaíso, discover the charm of clifftop houses and historic funiculars that climb the steep hillsides of this UNESCO World Heritage site. Savour the local caldillo de congrio (eel soup) prepared by local chefs, and participate in exclusive wine tastings in the Casablanca Valley that bring Chile’s agricultural heritage vividly to life.
A change of landscapes as you stand at the edge of the world in the Atacama Desert, the driest non-polar place on Earth. Here, we venture into the Valle de la Luna (Moon Valley) at sunset, where the salt-crusted earth turns shades of pink and purple that defy description. We visit the Tatio Geysers at dawn, watching plumes of steam rise against a frigid Andean sky, and float in high-altitude lagoons where the salt content rivals the Dead Sea. The silence here is absolute, broken only by the wind across the Altiplano.
From the desert, we cross the vast Pacific to the mystical frontier of rRapa Nui (Easter Island). This is a place that defies conventional logic—a tiny speck of volcanic rock that once hosted a flourishing and enigmatic civilisation. We explore Rano Raraku, the volcanic quarry where hundreds of Moai remain half-buried in the earth, as if the carvers simply laid down their tools and walked away centuries ago. Witnessing the sunrise at Ahu Tongariki, where fifteen stone giants stand in a row against the crashing waves, is a moment of profound reflection that stays with every traveller.
Following the island’s mysteries, we journey to the “end of the world” in Patagonia. Our base at the edge of Torres del Paine National Park provides a front-row seat to the most dramatic mountains on the planet. We witness the colossal Grey Glacier, where icebergs of electric blue calve into the lake, and we track the guanacos across the vast pampa. This is nature at its most raw and powerful, experienced from the comfort of an architectural masterpiece that blends seamlessly into the landscape.
As with all our programs, the journey is punctuated by authentic Chilean cuisine, intimate cultural experiences, and the warmth of small-group travel with your peers, offering a pace that allows you to linger, to absorb, and to see Chile in its most majestic form.
