Tour Summary

Few places on Earth evoke freedom so profoundly quite like Mongolia. This is where the horizon stretches uninterrupted and the rhythm of life is dictated by seasons, not clocks. The steppe is not merely land, it is a living landscape, vast and untamed, where ancient traditions persist alongside a modernising nation.

Our Mongolia – In The Season Of  Naadam journey is an immersive exploration of this extraordinary land. Scheduled for July 2027, it coincides with the Naadam Festival, Mongolia’s vibrant annual celebration of the “three manly games” of wrestling, horse racing, and archery, which bring together communities from across the country. This rare alignment allows you to witness Mongolia’s living traditions at their most spectacular, from colourful ceremonies and national costumes to the thrilling athletic displays that honour centuries of skill, courage, and endurance.

The journey begins in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia’s capital and cultural heart. Modern yet intimate, the city offers a glimpse of Mongolia’s unique fusion of urban life and nomadic heritage.  A visit to the National Museum of Mongolia and the Genghis Khan Statue Complex provides context and awe in equal measure, grounding the journey before it stretches outward into the wild.

Beyond the city, the steppe opens as an endless ocean of grass. Here, the heart of Mongolia beats in the daily life of nomadic families. The journey will follow Mongolia’s dramatic landscapes—from the rolling Khangai Mountains to the stark, wind-sculpted expanses of the Gobi Desert. In desert canyons and salt flats, you’ll encounter fossil beds, sand dunes, and hidden oases, witnessing ecosystems and geological formations that have remained virtually unchanged for millennia.

You’ll visit remote monasteries perched on cliffs or in quiet valleys, centuries-old Buddhist art and architecture reveal spiritual continuity amid vast isolation.

Central to the experience is the history of Genghis Khan and the Mongol Empire. Monuments, ancient ruins, and museums tell of a civilisation that, at its height, stretched across continents, influencing trade, warfare, and culture in ways that are still visible today. Yet alongside these great empires lies the legacy of ordinary nomads —the families who still move with the seasons, herd livestock, and sustain traditions passed down over centuries.

Evenings on the steppe are moments of reflection. Beneath the pure  Mongolian night sky, constellations blaze with clarity impossible in urban settings. The wind whispers through the grass, and stories of ancestors, conquerors, and shamans come alive, blending history, mythology, and lived experience. It is a landscape that humbles and inspires, inviting you to embrace simplicity, space, and wonder.

This carefully curated journey balances comfort with authenticity, combining expert-led explorations, thoughtfully chosen accommodations—from carefully chosen ger camps to boutique hotels—and inclusive meals that reflect Mongolia’s rich culinary traditions. All domestic travel, guided excursions, and special access experiences are included, allowing guests to immerse fully in the land without distraction.

Mongolia – In The Season of Naadam is more than a journey; it is an encounter with one of the last great open landscapes on Earth and a people whose way of life continues largely untouched by time. By experiencing the Naadam Festival, you will witness Mongolia’s heritage in full celebration, a rare alignment of culture, history, and landscape. It is designed for travellers with curiosity, patience, and a sense of adventure, those willing to meet Mongolia on its own terms.
