Our Quito & Galapagos GP & Pharmacy Conference saw us returning to a ship based conference for the first time since our Gallipoli and Aegean cruise in 2015.
Cruising conference are always exceptionally popular with our Amaco delegates. It offers an all-inclusive and relaxing experience with the advantage that you get to see a lot of places but only unpack once.
Amaco specially chartered the Celebrity Xperience for our Galapagos cruise. The Xperience was a recently refurbished expedition vessel with just 24 stylish staterooms – each featuring an ocean view and packed with all the features our participants would expect on a much larger cruise liner. Cruising the Galapagos Islands in a vessel of this size meant that we were able to visit places and do things that larger vessels just would and could not contemplate.
The cruise delivered on the promise of an experience most people only dream about… in a destination that very few get to truly experience. With a team of 4 expert naturalists on board, participants received in-depth destination briefings and lectures, while at the same time enjoying a number of daily excursions with choices of activity levels and intensities.
As part of our cruise program, Amaco guests had the opportunity to get up-close and personal with the wildlife inhabiting the Galapagos Islands as well as develop a better understanding of the people who live in the communities of the islands.
This cruise offered exceptional value for money – with all meals (including room service), an open bar on board and gratuities all covered in the package cost. Even the domestic flights from Quito to the Galapagos were included… as were all the often forgotten costs such as porterage, drinks and tips for staff and guides.
Following our return to Quito after the cruise, a slightly smaller (but no-less adventurous group) elected to join our Post Conference Amazon Extension. This 6 night program provided participants with the opportunity to journey deep into Ecuadorian Amazon region. We were based at Sacha Lodge, deep within a 5000-acre private ecological reserve surrounded by pristine rain forest. The lodge was designed to offer comfort to the traveler yet still preserve the environment and rain forest ambiance – something it did remarkably well.
